Reading Time: < 1 minute

McKenna Smith is a senior Communication Arts major. She is president of Lambda Pi Eta, the National Communication Association’s official honor society. Although her hometown is Granville, Ohio, McKenna began her college career at Furman college in Greenville, South Carolina. She transferred to Marymount Manhattan after when she realized that her career was calling her to the city.

“I wanted to ensure that I would have as many internship and professional opportunities as possible before graduation, something that MMC is great at helping with!”

McKenna enjoys the small class sizes, which help you connect to your peers and your professors, who she enjoys getting to know on an academic and personal basis. Despite sometimes missing the traditional campus feel of her old college, McKenna enjoys being in such a thriving city with everyone so motivated to achieve their dreams.

McKenna currently has an internship at Wachsman, a small PR company that services clients within the blockchain and fintech space. “I spent ten weeks working for them this summer, but it is a super amazing opportunity that I was lucky enough to keep up this semester.” After graduating, McKenna hopes to continue a career in Public Relations.

One thing McKenna still wants to do in NYC is run into someone famous. “I have a lot of friends who have seen famous people but I just have never gotten the chance! I think Lin Manuel-Miranda or Neil Patrick Harris would be amazing!”
