Rihanna’s Half Time Show Comeback

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Whether or not you watch the Super Bowl, we are all here to see the return and possible grand finale of  Rihanna’s career in live performance, and also some sparked rumors of another pregnancy.

When she previously announced that she would be performing for the Half Time Show, the internet exploded with the possible set lists she would use to show us that shes still got it. On Sunday, February 12th, the pop star we grew up loving on the radio, took to the stage at the Super Bowl Half Time Show.

Rihanna wore a vibrant and fiery, all-red outfit that perfectly represents her personality and performance to the drip. Her outfit revealed what is being rumored to be a baby bump, sparking a mass of internet searches, questioning if she is pregnant again. It’s no news flash that Rihanna has wanted to start a family, when she introduced her baby boy to the world in may of last year. But we are here for the performance that left all of us reminiscing of the times we listened to her music in the past.

The show opened up with “Bitch Better Have My Money”, to which we find Rihanna in the air on a floating platform, and there couldn’t have been a more perfect start because we know she is getting her moneys worth for pulling off this levitating feature. I think we all were questioning how the dancers were able to dance so well on those floating platforms as they moved up and down, but nonetheless, it was amazing to watch. She follows this up with some of her most iconic songs that was sure to get everyone off their seat and singing along, and if you hadn’t already started dancing, her background dancers definitely got me dancing and feeling the energy from her performance.

Of course, you didn’t think Rihanna wouldn’t take this moment to promote her company Fenty Beauty. At the start of the song, “All Of The Lights”, she is handed the Invisimatte for a quick touch up before continuing the show. Invisimatte is an instant setting and blotting powder used to blur the look of pores, absorb shine, and extend the wear of your makeup all day. The final songs performed seemed to represent the closing of this chapter of her life, but with the hinder of the opening of a new chapter in her life, that being, raising her children and continuing to grow her business. Emotions were high and she knew to elevate us even higher than we already were when she began singing “Umbrella”. This lit me up inside, reminding me of when I was younger in the backseat of my parent’s car singing along, “ELLA, ELLA, ELLA, AY, AY, AY”.  She adds on a long red coat to complete her look as she gets back on the platform and starts rising back up into the sky for her final song. “Diamonds” was the final song, and it called for a beautiful ending to her performance. As she sang, the stadium filled with lights, seemingly representing the diamonds in the sky. As the song reaches its peak, she rises further into the sky as the night is lit up with fireworks signaling the grand finale to her performance. A truly amazing show that was well needed from her 7 year hiatus from performing live.
