It’s hard to believe the time has already come to get ready for the spring semester. The Monitor has you covered, whether you are a first-year going through the process for the first time, or a senior who needs a quick refresher, these are five things to keep in mind to breeze through the process.
- Clear those restrictions
Before starting the registration process, you will notice that “restrictions need to be cleared to proceed.” Without this step, you will not be able to get into your classes through the portal. The easiest way to do this is to attend your advisement meeting, your advisor will provide you with guidance and be able to clear your restrictions and give you access to the registration menu.
- Use your course evaluation as a guideline
In MMC Connect there is a tab titled “course evaluation,” it tells you what credits you have completed and how many more you need to complete your program on time. Note the codes and requirements as you go through the course bulletin and build your semester around that. Going into your advisement meeting with a clear plan will give your advisor more time to give you guidance and for you to ask questions, ensuring the most success.
- Write down the course code and sections before you try to register
Once your schedule is set with your advisor, it is very helpful to have the course code and section numbers written out before you go into the registration menu as they will ask for that information in the process. These numbers can be found on the course listing on the course bulletin and will make the process move smoothly and with ease!
- Set a reminder for your registration time and date
Students should have gotten an email listing the earliest time they can begin the registration process. To ensure you have the best opportunity to get into your first-choice classes, set a reminder so you can log on ASAP and have the best chances at your top picks!
- Do not Stress
Finally, don’t stress it! It can feel very overwhelming to take in all this information, planning, and timing, when you want or need certain classes, but the key thing to remember is that no matter what you end up with on your schedule, it is all leading you to the same place, and you will get through this time. The classes can always be taken next semester, or the next, no matter what, your credits are building you up to graduation regardless of when you take them.
