5 Things You Need To Know For Academic Advisement
Reading Time: < 1 minuteIt’s that time of the semester again, time for Academic Advisement! Before you start the process of figuring out which classes you need and getting in touch with your advisors, here are 5 things you need to know for the advising process:
- Make sure you get in touch with your advisor as soon as possible to schedule your appointment with your advisor! They should have sent out emails to make them, so make sure to get on that if you haven’t yet!
- Before your appointment, check your program evaluation to figure out what classes you need to take to be on track with your major(s)/minor(s). To access your program evaluation, start by going to MMC Connect, and once you’ve logged in under “student” then once you are at the main menu, select “Program Evaluation” under “Academic Profile”. Once you’re there, just select the box that shows your major(s), click submit and you’ll be taken to your evaluation.
- Go to the course bulletin and check what classes are available based on what classes you need, which is shown on your program evaluation
- Make a tentative schedule of what classes you need to take so you’ll be prepared to talk over how you want your schedule to be, making it easier on yourself and your advisor!
- When your day of registration arrives, you’ll be ready to go! Just click the link in the email from the Registrar that you should have received a little while ago and then enter in the class details to register!
Happy Academic Advisement! Good luck and I hope everyone gets the class they want!!
