Apple Fest is a time that calls for celebration amongst the griffins. A tradition dating back to 2009, this year’s Apple Fest was held on October 20th from 12 PM-3 PM at Marymount Manhattan College. Due to certain unexpected weather events, most of the event was contained inside campus rather than stretching down the block like in years prior.
The Assistant Director of First Year Experiences and Student Success Initiatives, Michelle Ng, who was stationed at the table for Student Success Advising stated the following; “Apple Fest is one of Marymount Manhattan College’s signature events and it is an amazing time for all of us to get together and celebrate autumn. It’s also naturally at the midpoint of this semester which allows the students to relax a little bit and celebrate having made it halfway through the semester.”
Over 600 students were present at this year’s Apple Fest. Many parents also attended the event. Outside campus, two food trucks served hot food to the students. Several additional food vendors including Lemon Perfect, Metz, and Breads Bakery were stationed in Carson Hall.
“We were actually here for the last strawberry fest and a lot of the students recognized us and even remembered my name surprisingly. They were like ‘Hey Scotty! we remember you from last time’ which is really great to hear from the students,” Scotty, a staff member of Lemon Perfect explained.
Various Registered Student Organizations like the Student Government Association, PRISM, Marymount Literary Society, and Model United Nations were stationed at The Commons, offering a plethora of engaging activities. These included Jenga, tarot-card reading, bookmark designing, and giveaways to name a few. Despite weather-related disruptions and the stress of looming midterm exams, the students of Marymount Manhattan College painted the town red with Apple Fest.
